Some of you may know that Matt and I have birthdays that are just 4 days apart. A couple of months ago, Matt decided that for his birthday, he wanted a new laptop. The one he got is apparently pretty cool. All I know is that it's tiny! I've never seen such a little one. Man, we are spoiled with our technology, aren't we?
After he got that, I was trying to decide what I wanted for my birthday. I finally figured it out. I got a bike as an early birthday present on Tuesday. It's nothing too fancy, but it will suit me just fine. Matt and I are about to go on its maiden voyage here in a few minutes. She's a pretty bike with silvery pink and white on the frame. For those of you that care, she's a hybrid.
I've decided to name her Pearl. (Since I own her, would that make me Mother of Pearl?)
I think I'll name Matt's bike, too, though, I seriously doubt he'll ever call it by name. The name I've chosen for his--Chad.
So, off we'll go on Pearl and Chad. Good times!!

I have a hybrid too! And I love her. Her name is Sharkie (I know, a little lame, but her model is "tiburon" which means shark in Spanish). I haven't been on her much since Albuquerque, but we went for a family bike ride the other day (since Seth can more or less keep up on his bike now), and it felt great to reconnect with Sharkie. It was a little humorous to see our little line of bikes and trailer. We wanted Esther to be able to ride part of the way, but knew she wouldn't be able to make it the whole way, so we put her and Lydi in the trailer and then tied Esther's bike on top of the trailer, which Earl pulled. I think loading him down that way is the only chance that Seth and I have of keeping up. He still said it wasn't much of a workout. Tell that to my legs!
(Okay, long comment. I'm just excited for you to have a fun new bike and wanted to share my refound enthusiasm)
(love you.)
Okay, I must have forgotten the rules that I learned at big screen up, because I have a bike, with no name. Jarrod has a bike, with no name. They are twins, looking just the same only one is a cruiser and the other a mountain bike. All the same, we love riding our no namers... Maybe I'll name them by days end.
I LOVE you! Such a goon ball... it's the BEST! :)
I am glad you are enjoying Pearl and Chad. Ask your mom about a birthday card she and I exchanged more than 30 years ago that had Mother of Pearl in it.
I wish I had seen your caravan, kristib. It gives a wonderful visual...
You are so fun! This takes me right back to college when I named my car Jamie. (After you coached me that all things with wheels MUST have a name.) :)
