Water Aerobics

So, I went to water aerobics this morning. It was really fun! I decided it was a good time for several reasons (in no particular order):

1. It started at 8:30, which is a VERY reasonable hour.
2. It's close to home, so, I can come home to shower after.
3. I wasn't the oldest person there by a long shot. I think the next older person was probably easily in their mid-50's. I love being the baby!
4. I wasn't the heaviest person there, either. I was so pleased to see people of all different body types there.
5. Good music. Our instructor had good taste in music. I can always appreciate that.
6. It was a great workout. When I got home, I was physically tired from the exercise.
7. On the way home from work, I realized that I had already worked out today.
8. I'm actually looking forward to Wednesday when I go again.
9. I get to exercise with my mom on Wednesday. That's going to be super fun. I just hope our instructor can tolerate us. :)
10. I felt empowered as I embraced my body and was willing to walk around the deck of the pool without being too embarrassed!

I decided that I was going to embrace the white, sometimes hairy legs, the extra fluff around my waist, and the less than toned body. That resolve was tested when I first arrived. I had my suit on under a t-shirt and shorts. Before I took them off, who should walk into the dressing room after water polo practice but three of my former YW! I thought to myself, "If I'm going to embrace this, I guess now's the time." So, after talking to them, I took off my t-shirt and shorts and walked right by them with my suit on. You know what, I didn't even die! Empowerment!!

I'm impressed. I've been thinking about swimming as a form of exercise, but haven't gotten there yet. Now I'll say, "I'll do it if you'll do it." and I'll have to go since you are already! Way to go!
