Recently, I found out that a guy I knew from Canby growing up, Tom, lives within about 15 mintues of me. I was totally surprised! I decided that it would be fun to have a group date with him, his wife, Katrina, and another couple from Canby, Sean and MyLiege. Both Tom and Sean are my older brother's age, so, I initially got to know them in a little sisterly role, over the years, I've been able to get to know them better as we've had chances to hang out here and there. This is especially true of Sean, who was at BYU with me for a while. He definitely filled a brother role for me when I really needed it.
I haven't seen Sean or MyLiege in about 2 or 3 years, and I don't think I've seen Tom since shortly after he got off his mission. So, we might be talking about 10 years! I've never met Katrina, but if our 1/2 hour phone conversation was any indication, I'm sure we'll get along swimmingly. I'm not even the slightest bit concerned about the boys getting along. I have one word to say--Geeks. Enough said.
Both couples have kids, but this weekend, it will just be the adults. I, of course, want to meet the kids, too, but I figured if the little ones came this time, the parents would be wrangling kids all night, and I would be feeling badly the whole time that my house isn't more kid-friendly. Way too many electrical gadgets roaming around, and the Wii's not hooked up, yet. So, another time with the kidlets.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to this evening o' fun this weekend!! Hooray for old friends!!
