Nuggets

I've discovered that, as I do my transcription work, each assigned set of files has what I like to call nuggets. Each day, as I'm working, I look for that nugget. They can come in various forms. Maybe it's a really long file that takes me a short amount of time, a file that doesn't need to be transcribed, or a really funny or interesting file.
When I first get my assignments at noon, they can feel very overwhelming, but I kind of get excited when I start looking for my nugget. Sometimes, like the last few days, I get multiple nuggets in one day. Those are really fun assignments!
Recently, I was telling Matt about this practice of mine. His response was, "Let's play the Glad Game." Yes, it's true, it does sound very Pollyanna, but like I told him, when you're doing a job that's so monotonous and tedious, you have to find something to brighten the day. It's like a treasure hunt. You never know where they're going to pop up. I'm okay being Pollyanna if it makes my job more tolerable.
And so, I'm glad for my nuggets, and I'm excited to find more.
