Well, Matt and I are moved into our new place. We slept there for the first time on Saturday night. Matt even set up our bed and got the dressers in the right place. That way, I could unpack my clothes. That made it feel a little more like home, but most of the time, it feels like a hotel. I'm sure it will feel more like our own soon.
Right now, we are only moved into the upstairs of the house, which has been interesting. There are many fewer actual rooms on this floor than what we had in the old house, so, we have lots of piles scattered throughout. I'm ready for them to all have a place to be put away. Of course, our board games and card games were the first things we moved in, and they're all organized neatly in the closet. Yeah, guess who was in charge of that. Yep, stacker girl. Priorities, right?
You'll notice from the pictures in the link above that we have A TON of projects to do to bring our house into this century. We have Matt's dad, Marc, and another guy named Pat working on the downstairs. They have removed all the paneling and most of the popcorn already!!!! Isn't that exciting?!?! You wouldn't believe how much more open it looks. We're going to re-texture the ceiling and the family room, then, follow that with a neutral beige wall and white ceiling (and by "we" I mean Marc and Pat). That will have to be the extent of the remodels for the moment. Hopefully, most of the horrible 70's lovelies will be neutralized.
When we get our other house sold, we're going to hire some professionals to help us get an overall plan to help the new house feel modern and cohesive. I'm excited for the planning process and excited to see it done. I still need to psych myself up for the actual during construction phases. Luckily, Matt has promised to do only one room at a time. I'm going to hold him to that! Wish us luck!
