Yesterday, Matt and I got ready and headed over to my grandmother's house in Philly. We took her to lunch at IHOP (She loves pancakes and doesn't get them much anymore). Our server was about as gentle as they come with her. I appreciated that. We had a really good time. After lunch, we hung out at her house for several hours just chatting and spending time together. She is a sweet lady who comes up with some very witty things to say. She was cracking me up. Matt was really kind with her, too. It was apparent that they enjoy each other, which I was grateful for.
From her house, we headed to our friends' house in New York. The drive up here was a little less than easy with a less-than-reliable GPS system at certain times. However, we made it and are having a good time. Last night, we stayed up way too late talking. Today, Matt spent most of the day at Adam's work (geeking out), and Sue and I hung out at home with their adorable daughter. It's been a pretty chill visit so far, but that's nice sometimes, too. We tend to be casual vacationers anyway.
Tomorrow, we are spending another day here then heading back to Philly to catch and early flight on Sunday morning. It's been a good vacation. I think it was the perfect length because I'm ready to go home in a day or two. It worked out well.
Thanks to all of you that followed me on this journey! I'm sure I will go back to posting less frequently when we get back to Oregon. My life is WAY less exciting when I'm at home.
