Last night, Matt and I got an email from the man and his wife who bought our other house. He said they had gotten mail for us over there. Matt asked if he and I could come over tonight, pick up the mail, meet the new owners, and hear about their plans for the house. I was anxious before going over. I had a mixture of feelings ranging from excited to hear their ideas to nervous that I might feel territorial or offended by their plans.
As it turns out, I felt neither. I was pretty neutral as they were talking about the changes they were planning. In fact, they were ideas Matt and I had kicked around and decided against for whatever reasons.
They were a really great people, and I found myself genuinely excited for this couple that owned their first house and seemed to love it as much as we had! The husband and Matt have a lot of similar experiences and interests (translation: Geeks Unite). The wife and I seemed kind of similar, too, which was really nice. It appeared that we have the same kinds of taste, too. They loved all the paint colors we chose, and they really liked our dining room table that was staging the area. In fact, they thought it was brought in by a staging company and were surprised to find out it was ours. I like people that like our tastes!!
All in all, it was a pleasant experience. I hope we get a chance to hang out with them again.
