Weekend

On Friday night, Matt and I went on a date. I know, it's surprising. With the house stuff pretty much out of our hands, we have time to go on dates (oh, and sleep). We went to a movie and dinner. I like being with Matt. He's a funny guy who is so great. Friday night, I especially enjoyed being with him. I mean, the food at dinner was only okay, and the movie left a lot to be desired, but it was still a great date. I don't know what made it different, but it was really fun. The conversation flowed easily on various topics, he was extra affectionate (which always makes a girl feel pretty), and we were both just in great moods. It was a really nice evening.
On Saturday, we got a false alarm on our old house. Our realtor called and said that someone was in the process of writing up an offer as she spoke. A little bit later, she called back to say that the buyers had changed their mind because they heard our neighborhood was not all that great. Our street isn't bad, but the access street to get to our neighborhood isn't so hot. Our realtor is still working with the others to see if something can be worked out. At this point, everything is in Heavenly Father's hands. Like I was telling my friend, Elena, Matt and I both felt like we needed to get this house, so, that's what we have to rely on.
Yesterday, after the Conference sessions, I went Home Teaching with Matt. It was the first time I had ever done that, but I really enjoyed it. We visited a couple in our ward who are really quite funny. I was thinking about how grateful I am for my testimony of Home Teaching. It was a good experience.
Last evening, we had a birthday party for Tina, my sister-in-law. It was our first family function at our new house. My mom has already told me that our place is now the default location. That's fine with us. In fact, knowing that we were going to have the party at our place inspired us to actually get the kitchen mostly organized instead of canned food and dishes taking over pretty much EVERY counter space. Anyway, the party was nice. It was good to see everyone. Penelope was less than thrilled to be there, but she slept most of the time. Maybe she was just super tired. I'm sure it had nothing to do with Uncle Matt and Aunt Jen.
